After the November session was held, I realised that the quality of the session was diminished for the Experienced riders with a group of 24, so I am limiting the sessions to a max of 18 riders (16 for Accreditation Streams).
Registration for the 2017 Derby Track League is now OPEN to EXISTING RIDERS. Those with Level 4 Accreditation who want to go racing in 2017 need to apply from 16th December 2016.

There's a extra session date been set for the more experienced track lover. On the 2nd Jan we will have an hour at 10:30 to 11:30 where we will have specific training for Team Time Trialling and for Sprinting. This will have to be limited to those who have level 3 or Level 4 accreditation (at any velodrome), as places will be limited.

You need to get yourself 'on the list'.
First thing is to become a member of the Derby Leisure Card system (£10 per year).
Then apply for Registration for Accreditation.
Registration consists of you entering your details onto the Derby database and signing up for a track cycling membership. Here's the link https://leisurecourses.derby.gov.uk/Memberships/
Then you are able to start the 4 levels of accreditation!

The early 2017 dates for the Rocko Sessions have been set. All on Saturdays, usual time: 19:00 to 21:00.
In each session there will be two streams, so each stream gets an hour of actual track time. There is usually one stream for developing trackies, preparing them for and moving them through the 4-level accreditation process. The other stream would be for the more Experienced trackies (at Level 3 and above) where we should get some gentle racing in amongst specific skills exercises.
The November Rocko Session is on Saturday 26th, usual time, 19:00 to 21:00.
There will be two streams,
one for Track Newbies where decent road cyclists get the chance to jump to being Level 2 Accredited
and one for the more Experienced trackies (Level 3 and above) where we should get some gentle racing in.
For those of us over 40, there is an LVRC Track afternoon at Derby Arena. Details below.

For your diary, the following sessions are all booked with Derby.
The June session is on Sunday 12th June at 15:00 for an hour. This session will be for more confident riders and will focus on Track Team practice/training. Individuals very welcome; we will make up the teams on the day with people who want to ride at similar pace.
All of the sessions for the rest of 2016 are 2-hours long on the Saturday evening slot, 19:00 – 21:00.
OK, summer's (just about) over. What about the track for the winter? Plenty of inspiration to be had from Rio, and we have a group that covers our local clubs in SE Midlands meeting monthly. From there the options are racing or skills development, but the buzz of going around the velodrome is worth it alone. The September 10th evening session will get you from track newbie to Level 2 in one go (assuming you don't screw up!). We aim to get people through the accreditation and able to progress as soon as possible, so if you fancy joining the Derby Track League for 2017, now's the time to plan it.

Blogged by Steve Wickham. I decided that track was the ideal introduction to cycle racing for me. Indoors and traffic free.
