A bright and dry evening attracted a good turnout for the second ‘Ten’ of the new season. With a north-easterly breeze, conditions looked promising for a fast night, but perhaps with the slight chill in the air and a less than perfect wind strength and direction, if you can have such a thing, results were mixed compared with last week.

Bradshaw and Pete Wilson. Pete B this time bringing out his time trial machine, taking over a minute off last week’s time done on his road bike, to finish in 23:38, while Pete W was just four seconds slower than his previous time and ten seconds slower than Pete B. (We need some nicknames!)
Meanwhile our young guys Harry Freeman and Mathew Lonergan, who have both made great progress in cycle sport in a few months, both slipped back a little this week but were still in the 26’s on 26:28 and 26:51, very respectable for the road bikes plus tri-bars, I think they are using.
To mention a club member who is new to time trialling, Nathan Joyce, he was one to make a significant improvement over last week (and riding a road bike) and going from 25:50 to 25:17 – well done! And he wasn’t sure he was going to do the time trials. Tonight also saw us welcome new member Claire McCann, who got round in 31:56 – by no means last or least. I hope she will be back for more. Corley Cycles Racing Team’s Jamie Scott and John Hardwick put in actual fastest ride of the night, riding as a 2 up on their road machines they recorded 23:37.
