Many thanks to the marshals again tonight.
On an otherwise fine evening in the bright light of the setting sun, a gusty west-northwest wind made it a little difficult for the thirteen competitors, most if not all were unable to approach their best times on the course this year. Pete Bradshaw, deciding to ride this last Ten of the summer club series instead of the massed start racing on the Rockingham Raceway, duly produced the fastest ride, albeit 47 seconds down on last week, while Peter Wilson secured maximum veteran points, finishing second fastest overall, his time giving him the biggest veterans plus margin. Simon Beesley was a fine third fastest and second in the veteran’s competition, just ahead of Phil Earl, also road bike and tri-bar equipped, and the next best veteran. Going back through the field everyone, except perhaps WVCC guest Nev Brooks, was a minute or two off their best pace. Despite the wind assisting on the fast road back from Ashley, the time lost elsewhere on the course could not be made up. Many thanks to the marshals again tonight.
