​It was a beautiful summer’s evening but it only brought out eight riders (all RFW). Perhaps there was football on the telly?
Tom Cockerill put in an outstanding time of 22:30, with Graeme Hall following in 22:38 and Julian Freeman coming third with 23:26. All very good times.
Everyone managed to beat the 30-minute barrier on a demanding course, so very well done all. I think I heard John Dainty calling for “tea” as he crossed the finish line.
Next week sees the last of the series on the Devil’s Staircase (probably a sigh of relief by all riders) and then we’re back on the Valley Circuit for the final Summer Series.

We had a breezy but sunny and warm evening for our pre-Interclub twenty mile TT, which brought out a field of seventeen riders.
Paul Beattie (RFW) posted fastest time of the evening, finishing in 48:27, just one second faster than David Robinson (KCC). Ian Day (Aspire Velo) came in third with 49:28 and Austin Smith (RFW) fourth with 51:11. Only two riders were unfortunate to finish outside an hour.
Nigel Tomlinson and Nigel Cook climbed off after ten miles and our commiserations go to Mike Harvey, whose derailleur hanger broke part way round the first circuit.

There will be no Wednesday TT next week, as the 25 mile Inter-Club TT between RFW and WVCC will be held on the Valley circuit on Tuesday, starting at 7:00.

​Due to traffic lights at roadworks in Barnsdale we decided that there was no safe place to start in Great Easton and therefore reverted to the Valley Circuit for this evening’s time trial.
In spite of a lovely sunny evening and little wind there were only seven entries. We haven’t seen Pete Wilson (RFW) at an evening time trial for some time, but he turned up tonight and put in a time of 24:39,  bumping Austin Smith (RFW) into second place with 25:02. Paul Furnell (RFW) was third-place rider, coming in at 26:00.
Neill Howarth (RFW) was happy with a season’s best time of 29:38 and Mac Carter (RFW) was still struggling to beat the 30 minute barrier, finishing in 34:10 – not bad for a young’un though.
