Spring Series 24.4.19

A rather dodgy weather forecast must have put people off, as we only had eight riders this evening. A threat of rain and a strong-ish wind meant that times were generally not the best.
In spite of that, Will Deeley (RFW), the only TT bike rider, put in an excellent 23:30, followed by visitor, Haddi Conant (Datalynx) in second place on 28:34 and Will’s Dad, Mike (RFW) coming in third with 29:06.
The ‘oldies’ all struggled in with time in excess of 31 minutes.
Many thanks to Peter Nix , who provided a very welcome meal and to all marshals and helpers.

Improving weather brought out a good entry of eighteen riders and we had plenty of help. There seems to be a good buzz developing around our TTs this year – and I’ve been getting a ride!
Will Deeley (RFW) put in best time of the evening with 22:52, beating his arch nemesis Paul Beattie (RFW) and Pete Bradshaw (F6B2) by 20 seconds – both with 23:12.
Best Road Bike was Tony Hughes (RFW), with 28:16 and Mac Carter (RFW) beat the magic 30 minutes (just) with 29:59.

Well done to everyone who took part and a big thankyou to all helpers and marshals, especially George Deeley for his cooking.

Our first full ‘ten’ of the season was cold, with a substantial north-easterly wind. In spite of that, we had fourteen riders.
Fastest time was set by Paul Beattie (RFW) with 23:43, who beat second-place rider Graeme Hall (RFW) by one second. You can’t get closer than that!
Fastest rider in the Club Road Bike category (no aero kit) was Julian Freeman (RFW), with 25:55. I’ll leave you with Julian’s words – “Riding own your own, in the cold and wind, inflicting untold pain on your legs and lungs...……….what’s not to like!!!”

My usual thanks go to everyone who turned out to help and to Peter Nix for the food. Let’s hope it warms up for next week.
