Graeme Hall (RFW) put in an excellent time of 23:24, with Julian Freeman (RFW) following in 24:59 and Steve Coombs (RFW) almost a minute slower at 25:39.
Neill Howarth (RFW) was delighted with 28:07 after something of a lay-off while Peter Nix (RFW) was disappointed with his 28:30, though consoled himself that he was the fastest ‘proper road bike’.
Of the ‘youngsters’, Matt Lonergan (RFW) did well on 25:52 and Millie Van Nierop (WVCC) was the sole ‘outsider’ and female rider with a creditable 28:31. Mac Carter continues to improve and will hopefully break the 30-minute barrier by the end of the season.
It was also good to see some older riders still having a go, which is hopefully what it’s all about.
My usual thanks go to all time-keepers, marshals and helpers.
Our (rather blurred) photo this week shows Neill Howarth and Mike Harvey fighting for the finish line.
