Well I don’t know what put off so many from riding the TT this evening, the chance of showers I suppose, but the thirteen who did set off were rewarded with conditions that yielded some fast times and personal bests; warm and damp with a light easterly to east southeast breeze.
Pete Bradshaw, nursing sore ribs, was fastest in 23:20, from Pete Wilson 23:30 and Paul Beattie 23:40.

Paul must surely have had tired legs after his win on the Milton Keynes Bowl and his efforts over the weekend in two fast ten mile time trials and in the NCRA 68 mile road race. Peter Kucak was tantalisingly close to joining the fastest three in the twenty-threes finishing in 24:03, while Julian Freeman, another coming back from injury, produced a very sound 24:53 ahead of Steve Wickham’s 25:05. Steve’s pace more like that we have come to expect of him. These fastest rides were all done on TT bikes.
Next up and the first of the road bikes plus tri bars was Simon Beesley, from Tim Eaton and Harry Freeman, all dipping into the twenty fives, PBs I think for Simon and Harry, not sure if Tim had any faster times last year. As for the rest, I can’t name everybody, but they all seem to be getting up to summer season pace. I should have made the effort too…
