A warm welcome from Rocko's Lady CyclistsRockingham Forest Wheelers are committed to helping more ladies to cycle. If you are already enjoying regular cycles and would like to try one of our friendly social Sunday group rides we would love to meet you. Riding with others is a great way to keep you motivated and is also brilliant fun.
Don't let a lack of confidence or a fear of being too slow stop you from trying as our members are considerate cyclists and no-one is dropped off or left behind. We have 3 groups, steady, intermediate and fast so you should find a level that suits you. Steady group rides tend to average 13-14mph and all cyclists are welcome, not just us ladies. Every group has a ride leader who will guide you along a pre-planned route of two halves. A midway cafe stop gives the three groups an opportunity to meet up for refreshments and a chat before heading back to the clubhouse and home. We sincerely hope you decide to join us one Sunday, you have nothing to lose, and so much to gain from taking that initial leap of faith. Everyone is a beginner when they start to cycle. With over 140 years’ experience in the saddle, "We are Cycling UK" want to share their love of cycling, expertise and support with you. They champion a simple belief – that cycling should be a fun, inspiring and accessible. Click the link above to access essential cycling advice for beginners.

My Story
I work full time and have two grown up sons and a granddaughter. I took up cycling in the summer of 2018 after buying a hybrid on the Government’s Cycle to Work Scheme (Bike2Work). I wanted to improve my health doing something I thought I would enjoy and it’s the best decision I could have made as I love it. I will never be an elite athlete, but that’s ok because I know I am now fitter than I have been for many years.
I started slowly, taking short rides locally building up to cycling the 5 miles to work. As my confidence and stamina grew I began extending my routes, setting myself incremental achievable goals. I would often pass RFW members who always acknowledged my presence out on the road. This prompted me to overcome my anxiety about trying a club ride and to give it a go. I have not looked back since!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more information.
Regards
Karen
