Here's a thought - what are you planning to do this winter? I know, summer has hardly started, but these things need planning :)

If you are thinking about next winter already (I know, we have barely started Spring) and are interested in track racing, you need to get accredited. There's a group on next week's Rocko track session , on evening of 8-April at Derby that will get you from zero to level 2 accreditation, (level 4 is needed for racing). As it is an evening event and accreditation is not physically strenuous, it shouldn't get in the way of your road plans.
See the Track Blog for details. We have a new date set in the Track diary, Jan 2nd at 10:30 (a Bank Holiday). This is for people accredited at Level 3 or above only, and it's a great chance top get specific training on either Team Time Trialling, or Sprinting skills.
We need more Rocko members at the Track events, they are getting more popular, but our neighbouring clubs are giving a better show than we are. Track is a great way to keep fit during the winter, and delivers a real speed buzz. Email Steve if you are interested. Dates for 2017 Track sessions have been set for:
(Plus the one already arranged for 26th November 2016). All sessions 19:00 to 21:00 in Derby Accreditation on the track is a 4-level affair. Normally an introductory session will get you to Level 1, then (maybe after a further training session) you can attempt Level 2. This can take a couple of months in total.
The 26th November session of the Rocko track will give anyone who either has existing track experience, or sound road riding experience, a chance to get Level 2 in one shot. This will be a 2-hour session, with you The Rocko track session on 12th of June (Sunday) at 15:00 for an hour is set aside for Track Team training, so think team pursuit skills and Olympic glory! If you'd like to train to do this, now is a great opportunity. It would be brilliant to get together a Rocko team and take on our friends at KCC and WVCC....
Contact Steve for more information The next Track day for Rocko (and our sister clubs) is on Sunday 12-June from 15:00 to 16:00 at Derby Arena. As it is just an hour, we will have a focus on team pursuit work and it would be great to be able to bring together enough for a Rocko team (4/5 cyclists). On this occasion, the session will be for those experienced on the track only, developers sessions will return in July. If you want to get involved, contact Steve Wickham below... |
