The date for the annual hill climb competition with our rivals at Kettering CC has been set. It will start at 10:00 on Sunday 10th September in the usual place, near the bottom of Nevill Holt hill in Drayton. No change to the format, a timed route up from Drayton, then after an insufficient recovery time, up the same hill from the Medbourne side.
We need as many members as possible to enter this event, as points are awarded to the top 20 finishers across both clubs. I remember a couple of years ago we lost the trophy simply because we didn't have enough entrants from RFW in the middle of the finishers, meaning that KCC picked up enough cheap points to win. SO PLEASE PUT THIS DATE IN YOUR CALENDAR NOW AND SUPPORT THE CLUB. There is one place still available to join the twinning event where we meet up with our friends from Germany and France, this year the location is France. It is a great, cheap way to get some international experience under your belt. More information is to be found here, and please contact mail Norman Needham if you are interested.
The club now has broadband with wi-fi. The wi-fi id is PLUSNET-79T6 and the password is peloton17.
Any 'early adopters' who already linked with the password provided by PlusNet will have to get their phones to forget the network and rejoin with the new password. We'll try and change the clubhouse closure procedure to keep the network on so it can be available before a club ride without having to enter the clubhouse and power up the hub. Welland Valley CC's 2017 Reliability Trial.
It takes place on Sunday, Jan 29, starting at 9am from Lubenham Village Hall. All RFW members welcome. Distances are 68, 37 and 13 miles. Entry is just £6, which includes tea and cake at the finish. If you want to attend, please print off the image below and send a copy of the slip at the bottom (plus cheque) to Richard Daniells.
The club ride start time will change from Sunday 30th October where the winter start time of 10:00 begins. This is from the clubhouse to tea/coffee stops about 11:00-11.30am, returning around lunch time.
