We helped Rockingham Primary School run their Big Bike Day event today (24-June). They are developing interest in cycling in their children, and this event challenged them to ride as many laps of a 1 km course we had laid in West Glebe Park. There were almost 30 who accepted the challenge, and rode/scooted or even ran around the loop. A number managed lap counts in double figures, which was pretty good going for the age group!
Thanks to the members who helped; Arthur, David H, Eileen, Johnny, Julian, Nathan, Norman N, Paul B and Paul F. We hope to continue this relationship with the school, and a couple more in the area to enable us to build a youth group over the coming 12 months. Steve Dates for 2017 Track sessions have been set for:
(Plus the one already arranged for 26th November 2016). All sessions 19:00 to 21:00 in Derby This Thursday night ahead of the NCRA at Rockingham Speedway there will be a kids Go-ride race at 6.20.
Its the first of three (as advertised on BC website) and is an inter club meeting arranged locally between Kettering CC, Welland Valley and Rocko. The idea is that it will get a new wave of kids coming through and gaining a real interest in cycling. Could any members who can make it, please get along and help promote our club. |
